Set the input level to each channel just below the peak - you may have an overload indicator light on your channels to show this.

 

Turn the master levels up half to three quarters - this may seem high, but it has the effect of increasing the headroom or available power on hand.

 

Raise the channel volume controls to the desired level (setting the channel volumes high and the master volume low can cause distortion and unwanted feedback).

 

Setting E.Q. levels (such as Bass) too high can draw more power and could cause speaker distortion.

 

It's important to get to know your system's limitations - trying to get big bass sounds from a system not designed to do it is asking for trouble!
